Dal Bhat is the staple food of Nepal. Nepalese people consume Dal Bhat twice a day.
Tarkari is a side dish that goes along with Dal Bhat, hence known as Dal Bhat Tarkari.
Dal is made from lentils. It is a thin watered down soup which is salty. There are many kinds of Dal - red, black and white, gram, and beans.
Bhat is rice (dry rice). There are many types of rice - long, short, thin, fat, brown, red, white, aromatic and non-aromatic.
Tarkari is curry. There are two kinds of curry - dry and gravy. Tarkari can be made from meat (chicken, mutton and buff), fish, potatoes, beans, cauliflower, cabbage, many kinds of leafy vegetables, and so on.
